Experience
Dr. Tomac specializes in treating a wide range of brain and spinal conditions as well as the newest frontier in cellular regeneration techniques and other non-surgical treatment options. Primary areas of interest encompass both brain and spine disease, with a focus on all aspects of the surgical treatment of complex adult spinal deformities, spinal tumors, revision spinal surgeries, cervical disc arthroplasty/replacement, and trauma. His interests lie in state-of-the-art minimally invasive and robotic approaches to treatment of all categories of brain and spine pathologies (tumor to the craniospinal axis, primary and metastatic, trauma and adult degenerative spine deformity), both in-hospital, and in Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC).
Dr. Tomac has practiced Neurosurgery both in private practice settings and in large multi-hospital environments. Dr. Tomac has the desire and ability to communicate with patients and to understand their worries. His relentless interest in providing the best state-of-the-art care, along with his medical aptitude, wide range of clinical experiences, extensive complex MIS practical expertise, and his dedication to develop excellent interactions with other faculty all provide an ideal platform for delivering optimum care and treatment to neurosurgical patients.

Dr. Tomac is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, American College for Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Tomac is an accomplished researcher, having published numerous articles in top peer-reviewed biomedical journals including Nature and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Tomac’s research interests are gene therapy for neuromodulation, neuro-regeneration and neuroprotection in diseases and injury of the CNS as well as tailored gene targeting for CNS tumors.
